Today's Guilty indulgence

Here we are again! Another week just went by. For me it was filled with promised dreams!! My loving husband has been filling the house with flowers, getting one bunch of flowers every day. It's his way of making my birthday week a special one!

Other than that, a whole lot of my time is dedicated to finding us a lovely home. Its super fun to go visit houses, look at the neighborhoods, arrange phantom furniture and evaluate every house's fabulous quotient.

Lately houses have been on my mind so much that its a surprise that I get any work done! So, today's Guilty Pleasure is - H for House. Small or big, dated or modern, on top of a hill or next to a quiet pond...potential for fabulous decoration a must!

Art of the day

It's so hot today! But I'm not going to let that stop me from conjuring up patch of birch trees with a beautiful waterfall at its end. Rustling of leaves, soft breeze, roaring of the waterfall and cold spray of water. I'm feeling refreshed already!

Here is a glimpse into my delightful make belief world.

Rigmaro on the way to the waterfall, Bird art of the day
Rigmaro on the way to the waterfall

Narration - Behind the St. Swrzo orphanage at the end of the forest lies a beautiful waterfall. Rigmaro and his friends often walk through the woods to the falls. They love to swim in the adjoining pond.

Today his friends are already at the pond and Rigmaro is hurrying to join them. He can already feel the cold water refreshing his skin.

Both the prints look rather good as a set too. Some day when I have more time I should put all the bird prints together and see how that looks.

How does your make belief world look like?

Fab Finds From Etsy

Happy Thursday to you all! I'm very much enjoying this Fab Finds from Etsy series. I can't put my finger on what it is about looking at pretty things that relaxes me so.

These little bunnies designed by Megan String just make me smile :D

Aren't these plant cozy and bud vase from Papaver Vert just heavenly?

I also have been drooling over tiny cacti and bonsai plants for my work table. We picked some out at Vons yesterday. These planters from Erde Designs will go well with them. I love the simple design and color.
Love anything artsy and colorful. I've had my eye on Bionic Unicorn for some time now. Aren't they just divine?

How cool is this? Cute little Alphabet pillows from hilarycosgrove. This fits in perfectly with the alphabet craze going on in my studio right now.

Wishing you all a delightfully relaxing weekend.

Guilty indulgences - Series of alphabet posters

I've always had a weakness for high heels (who doesn't?) Women love putting them on and men love watching women sashay in them! :) I don't know anyone who doesn't have a pair or more stashed away in their cupboard for that 'one day I might wear it'.

So, here is today's guilty indulgence - S for stiletto.

Guilty indulgences - Series of alphabet posters

While I was working on the Flights of Fancy bird art collection a new thought stared floating in my head. There are so many things that I love like cake, chocolate, clothes, movies, sleeping and eating fried food. And, when done in access these turn out to be real bad! I kind of sway between one excess to another.

I started doodling all the things (past and present) that I have overindulged in. Surprisingly the list is turning out to be rather long!

So, what better way than illustrations to share the list with you folks. So here is my first - C is for Cookie. I totally love cookies. Soft, crumbly, crisp or gooey. Packed with nuts, filled with chocolate, sprinkled with sugar or with chocolate chips. YUMM!!

Would love for you guys to share your guilty indulgences with me. I don't promise but, I could incorporate it into the next illustration.

To guilty indulgences then!

Bird art of the day - Man Friday goes pumpkin picking

Hi there! It's going to be my first Halloween this year and I'm totally psyched up. You see, no one celebrates Halloween in India, so its kind of fascinating for me to see all the orange and black products, candies, plastic pumpkins and spooky accessories.

I imagine children dressed up as various ghoulish characters, neighbors handing out treats on their doorsteps and lots of the houses with dramatic decor. I'm really looking forward to the D day.

It's an important day for Man Friday too.
For the first time in his life he has his own home to decorate for Halloween! He goes to a nearby pumpkin field to kick start his Halloween shopping.

Flow Kitchen - Everything from growing to cooking to composting happens here!

Studio Gorm has designed a super cool living kitchen that is as close to being sustainable as I would dream. A kitchen where food is grown, stored, cooked and composted to grow more food!!

The hanging dish rack offers vertical storage for drying dishes saving valuable counter space, the water from the dish rack drips on the herbs and edible plants, which are grown in the terracotta planter boxes places below the rack.

The Storage jars are made from unglazed earthenware with beech wood lids. They utilize the natural porous properties of earthenware, which creates an ideal environment for maintaining the consistency of bread, extending the life of garlic and onions, storing grains and growing herbs. The beech wood lids which have natural anti microbial properties can also be used as cutting boards or serving trays.

The counter top features a built in waste bowl, which can be utilized to dump the scraps while preparing the food. Once the bowl is full, it needs only to be tipped to transfer the waste into the worm bin composter, which lies beneath the counter top. As the waste is lowered into the composter, the worms convert it into nutrient rich fertilizer, which can be put back into the plants.

A double-walled terracotta container acts as a refrigerator, cooling the inside as water evaporates through the outer wall.

The bag rack is used to hang net market bags, these can be used to hold onions potatoes or produce form the market. The rack can also be used to hang most any other type of shopping bag.

What do you think? Would you like your kitchen to be this smart? Or is the compost so near the food a turnoff?
