Mocha expresso maker

Happy almost-Friday! :) How is your week going?

Mine just passed in a blur...I can't believe its Thursday already! Where have the days gone? This week has been work-crazy and I'm so happy to see the weekend almost here.  I made a lot of progress on a bunch of illustrations including the portrait of 2 Percherons (They are very large but gentle horses), my entry for To Dry For Tea Towel Design Competition and a mocha expresso maker that has been haunting me in my dreams for the past few months (yes, I'm that girl!).

People tell me that they can't start the day without the smell of coffee in the morning (I don't drink much coffee). It's color, taste and the brain-boosting-get-me-through-the day chemicals make it an indispensable part of their daily lives... today's illustration is for all of you coffee aficionados.

French horn

I hope you had a good weekend! We had an opportunity for a impromptu picnic at the park near our home Friday evening. It was a wonderfully warm day (upper 70's) and we packed up our favorite Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and Pita Chips, some grapes, lots of freshly squeezed orange juice and some leftover Thai Coconut Corn Soup (still warm). For the first time in months we saw so many people in the park. We lay on the blanket, smiled at the colorful kites flying around and chatted about the summer. It was pretty stinking nice!

I can see friday evening picnics becoming a summer tradition.

Saturday and Sunday were spent detailing out the French Horn. It is such a beautifully intricate instrument and I'm really happy with how it turned out. First Gramophone and now French Horn, what do you think I should draw next?

Back away from the French Horn and nobody gets hurt!

The Things Spring Brings

On Saturday, April 9  between 5:00pm - 8:00pm I will be at VIX Emporium  showing my latest spring inspired illustrations. Here is the link to the event page. Thank you Emily for putting this together!

New stores!

There are some very exciting things going on here at the studio. Top of the list are the new stores carrying my prints.

Little Paper Planes is carrying some of my favorite works in their (so popular!) online shop. It's such a honor to be included! Thank you Kelly for the opportunity.

The fabulous Black Bear store in Brooklyn is also stocking ArtOcrat prints now. Whoohoo! If you are in the hood go check them out. I hear they are fantastic!

Nice Things Handmade, is filled with many fun, unusual and unexpected treasures made by local artists.  Beginning next week you can find several of my newer prints in their store in Philadelphia. Sooo much fun!

Hey Cupcake!

So, what are your plans for this lovely day? After doodling sugary delights for a few days I finally had a chance to complete this one last night.  I'm so 'sugar happy' right now and this chocolate cupcake is the reason. What do you think? Keep checking back for more additions to the collection, I'm super excited about this.

Okra

After a relaxing Sunday, and good restful sleep, I am so happy to be back to work this morning :)

On sunday, Tarun and I tried this Garden vegetable soup recipe and it was, awesome! Much better than the Panera bread's garden vegetable soup that I wanted to recreate. You will love this soup, my friends! We paired it with some warm focaccia bread for the perfect cool weather dinner.

And here is today's illustration, fresh from the farm Okra.

Eggplant

Hello Monday! I'm back from a lovely weekend at Hershey*, hope you had a good one too.

This morning get ready for some offbeat facts about eggplant. It's a native to India, where it is considered to be the King of Vegetables(yes, really!). And like tomatoes, eggplants are not vegetables but fruits. It's also believed to have the highest highest level of nicotine of any fruit or vegetable!

Have any eggplant recipes to share?

* The same hershey town with the signature Hershey Kiss lights and the Hershey Chocolate Factory. Yes, the sweetest place on earth!

St Basil's Cathedral, Moscow

I hope everyone is having a good Friday. I know how hard they can be!

This illustration is a part of an old work - Birdumbus Visits St Basil's Cathedral. A customer recently requested a print of the cathedral and I figured there might be more people interested in it. It's such a magnificent monument after all!

Have a great weekend. XOXO

Matchsticks

Hello friends! How did your day go? Mine was really really hectic. Mom is leaving for chicago in a few days and we are making some last minute visit to the mall. It is so much fun shopping with her and taking frequent, frozen yogurt/ mocha caramel latte breaks.

On the work front I made this matchstick illustration today. What kitchen is complete without matchsticks, right? What do you think?

Artichoke

Today I bring for you a vegetable that is technically a flower! Beautiful and yummy Artichoke. The first time I had one, was in a creamy artichoke pasta. It was so delicious! I have been in love with this amazing vegetable ever since.  I'm hoping to try this recipe of spinach and artichoke pasta soon.  Do you have a favorite artichoke recipe?
