Chop Chop

When I was a little girl I used to love cutting up paper to make this and that. It used to be fun for me but I guess whoever was stuck cleaning up after me would have a different story to tell ;)

Here is today's illustration with scissors, dreamy clouds and two sisters.

November is around the corner and the temperatures are dropping to low 50's. Call me crazy but I'm waiting for snow now :) Last year it was my first snow and this year is going to be my little sisters first snow!

With snow flakes, skiing, wood fire and hot tea in mind... here is today's illustration.

High Tea

On our trip to world market last week I came across this gorgeous blue and brown porcelain Chinese tea cup and kettle. We brought it home and I have been obsessing over it since. Tea definitely tastes better in a fancier cup!

Happy Columbus Day everyone!!

Hope every one had a great weekend. And some of you lucky fellas must be still enjoying the long weekend :)

We were at the San Diego Wild Animal Park for most of the weekend. The weather was perfect, warm sun and cold air. Not too hot or cold. Blissful!!

I spent hours staring at gorgeous birds, laughing at their antics, taking tons of pictures and sipping ice cold lemonade. My little book is filled with ideas for new bird illustrations. Keep checking in for new birdscapes.

Today's birdscape is "Perched on a chair". Enjoy!

What I ate today

Don't know what is it with fritters and me .. but, I just LOVE them. I know fried is BAD, yet I love eating fried food :)

So, this is what we made today. Bread fritters. They taste amazing and are vegan (as far as I can tell)

What I ate today, food illustration, Bread fritters, bread pakoda

Here is the recipe

Ingredients:
• 8 Slices bread
• 1 Cup gram flour
• 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
• Salt to taste
• 1/4 Cup water
• 1 Onion (chopped)
• 2 Potatoes
• 2 Pods garlic (ground)
• 1/2 inch ginger (ground)
• 1 Cup cooking oil
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder

Mix gram flour and salt in a bowl. Add the water to it slowly and mix it till the batter is smooth and thick. (Batter is now ready)

Boil, peel and cut the potatoes in small pieces. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a frying pan. Add mustard seeds in the oil when it is hot. After a minute, add the chopped onion in the frying pan and fry it till it becomes golden brown. Add ground ginger and garlic to the fried onion. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Add chopped potatoes after a while. Mix them and cook for some time. (Stuffing is ready.)

Cut the side of the bread and cut it into small triangles. Heat oil in a frying pan. Fill the potato stuffing between two triangular pieces of bread. Dip it in the batter properly to cover it entirely with the batter. Fry it deep on the medium heat carefully.

Bread fritter is ready. Serve it with ketchup.

Enjoy it with a glass of chilled buttermilk :)

We made Ravioli for dinner tonight. Not only did it taste wonderful it looked great too. I couldn't resist drawing it out for all of you to see.

I'm thinking of making this a regular feature on my blog. A daily illustration of 'what I ate today'. Hopefully I will have time to both cook and draw lunch/ dinner. I'm so excited about it already!!

The Striped Sheep

Lately I have been having some trouble falling asleep every night. Hubby dear suggested counting sheep. It didn't work in the sleeping department but, worked fabulously in creating this piece of art. :)

I''m calling it The Striped Sheep.

Butter stool

Check out this clever stool made from recycled milk containers by Australian designers, DesignByThem.

Apparently ‘Butter stool' made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, it is made almost entirely of recycled milk containers!! It's also made from a single piece of material which when folded together can be hand assembled.

How cool is that!! It would look so gorgeous as a night stand or a side table.
