Sailing in a Tea Cup

A few weeks back we went sailing at the Pinchot Lake. We had a great time sailing at this beautiful 340-acre man made lake. The weather was great, water calm and the breeze very soothing. I got an opportunity to click many pictures of colorful sailboats, kayaks and canoes.

Capturing that lovely time (with my own twist of course!) is this 'Sailing in a Tea Cup' illustration.

This weekend we are going camping to the Gifford Pinchot State Park. I'm looking forward to sleeping under the open sky and counting stars instead of sheep :p

Screen Printing try one

Last month I finally gave in to the urge of screen printing and bought some equipment from Ryonet. I got their Screen Printing Hobby Kit Plus kit and Versatex Screen Printing Inks. Though Rryonet came highly recommended I'm a little (ok, more than a little ) disappointed with their hobby press. It was so difficult to set up and even after a lot of DIY it still refuses to to stay perfectly horizontal! HUH!!

So anyway, I tried printing one flat color on a canvas with the screen and squeegee but it just didn't happen even after multiple tries. The color was of inconsistent thickness and the canvas kept sticking to the screen and when I pulled it apart the excess color had tons of tiny air bubbles. Sigh. I guess there will be a LOTS of trail and error before I can produce some decent prints :)

Will try and take some pictures of the current set up and post them soon.

Spring Fiesta

Its a good 72 degrees outside and it feels like spring is already here. Clear blue skies, warm sunny days, fragrant blossoms, picnic basket and of course buntings!! A bunting always makes it feel like spring :)

Yesterday we made a bunch of colorful paper buntings for the booth and figured my little birdy pals could use some too.

So here is a little birdie grabbing in its beak one end of a paper bunting, with the other end tied to the tree.

High Tea

On our trip to world market last week I came across this gorgeous blue and brown porcelain Chinese tea cup and kettle. We brought it home and I have been obsessing over it since. Tea definitely tastes better in a fancier cup!

Waiting for the call

I'm back from my wonderful vacation :). Celebrating Deepavali with family was a great idea! Check out the pics here. You might have to just add me as a friend to see the pictures.

These two little birdies are about to discover that they are in love. Isn't that sweet...:)

Art of the day

It's so hot today! But I'm not going to let that stop me from conjuring up patch of birch trees with a beautiful waterfall at its end. Rustling of leaves, soft breeze, roaring of the waterfall and cold spray of water. I'm feeling refreshed already!


Here is a glimpse into my delightful make belief world.

Rigmaro on the way to the waterfall

Narration - Behind the St. Swrzo orphanage at the end of the forest lies a beautiful waterfall. Rigmaro and his friends often walk through the woods to the falls. They love to swim in the adjoining pond.

Today his friends are already at the pond and Rigmaro is hurrying to join them. He can already feel the cold water refreshing his skin.

Both the prints look rather good as a set too. Some day when I have more time I should put all the bird prints together and see how that looks.

Guilty indulgences - Series of alphabet posters

I've always had a weakness for high heels (who doesn't?) Women love putting them on and men love watching women sashay in them! :) I don't know anyone who doesn't have a pair or more stashed away in their cupboard for that 'one day I might wear it'.

So, here is today's guilty indulgence - S for stiletto.
