Tomatoes

Our upstairs neighbor has a gorgeous tomato plant in his balcony, that is currently fruiting. From my studio window (when I crane my neck ever so slightly) I see beautiful, plump, deep red tomatoes. I'm filled with awe and a little bit of longing. You see, I've not had good luck with growing plants, especially the ones that fruit or flower. The only plant that seems to flourish in my care is Golden Pothos (Fun Fact : In India Pothos is known as Money plant)

Chocolate Milkshake

Who doen't like chocolate milkshake? Right? It's my favorite kind too! Since our visti to Hershey's Chocolate World a few months back, we have been steadily going through the large bottle of chocolate syrup we brought back. There is something about the smooth, creamy and oh so frothy chocolate milk that screams perfection. Yum!!

Whats your favorite milkshake flavor?

Let's bake

It's funny how our brains work. Monday morning I woke up wanting to draw a stand mixer. I was pretty perplexed, I don't bake nor do I own one. Then why was I thinking about it? Later during the day while I was collecting books to return to the library I realized it was because of the book Emily and Einstein by Linda Francis Lee. In the book Emily bakes compulsively to get over the grief of losing her husband.

I got the book from the library last week and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I just hadn't realize how much it had seeped in. Do you sometimes see connections between what you make and what you read? Does that fill your heart with wonder?

It's time

Running a business, however small is not easy. For the past week I have been buried under tasks that kept me away from illustrating. Marketing, PR and keeping accounts are the daily realities of business and sometimes it gets pretty overwhelming :)

Saturday morning, with my To-Do list complete,  I woke up dreaming of an old fashioned alarm clock ringing - telling me it's time. Time to do what? Illustrate? Well I ended up drawing the dream and it turned out well enough to share with you guys. What do you think?

Have ideas come to you in dreams? How did you turn them into reality?

Illustration Rally - Floral Pattern

Illustration rally is running an open submission for patterns in three themes- Floral, Food and Pets. Here is my submission for the first one. You will remember the carnations from this illustration. I know almost nothing about creating patterns and found this tutorial on Design Sponge very helpful for creating this pattern. Any other pattern creating tutorials you would like to recommend?
